News and Trunk Shows

Hello
Happy October! I love this time of year. In my head there is a chance that we will cool off and fall will appear.

We are having Trash to Treasure this year. Usually we skip a year, but we have had so many donations there is enough for a great sale.

Mark you calendars for Early Bird night November 11 ($25.00) and
Sunday, November 12 12-4.

For those of you who haven't experienced our sale, here is how it works.
You, our customers, donate your unwanted canvases, knitting yarn, needlework books. We price them VERY reasonably and all the money goes to Young & Healthy in Pasadena. It's a win win. The charity gets $$ and you get rid of projects and supplies you don't want. What is left after the sale gets donated to school programs in the area.

If you have things to donate, start bringing them in. We will take donations until November 11.

Our latest trunk show is Kirk and Bradley.
Here is the link if you can't get to the shop. Give us a call to place an order. 626-793-5217
We are happy to ship.

Lace Shawl Class with Margaret

Michelle Hunter of "Building Blocks in Color" blanket fame has just published "Building with Lace."  The finished product in this class is a beautiful shawl with 9 horizontal panels. Intended for intermediate knitters (those able to identify right (public) and wrong (non-public) sides, knit and purl stitches, and correct their own mistakes), the class would run once monthly for 9 months. The pattern calls for HiKoo's Riley yarn, a sport weight, alpaca and silk blend.

The cost of yarn, needles, book and instruction comes to $280 and includes sales tax.
This class will be taught by Margaret Williams and will begin in January.

Our knitting Teacher, Margaret, will be gone for the month of October. You are still welcome to come in an Monday and Friday to knit and visit, but be aware I can only fix the basics. Come in to see her this month or in November if you need help.

Save The Date

Our third annual Santa Barbara Retreat will take place May 18-21, 2018 at the Santa Barbara Inn.
We are changing it up this year and you will be able to work on the canvas of your choice. I will have you send your canvas, or get one ordered, by the end of January 2018. I will create a stitch guide and pull the threads and embellishments you will need to have a complete project. Then we will spend 4 days days stitching, answering questions and enjoying the California Coast.
I am working with the hotel and will send out more information and pricing as I have it.
Hope you can join us. Class will be limited to 15.

That is it for now. As always thanks for being our customers. We wouldn't be here without you!
